        VSC101 Qualified Crew

        Course Overview

        LEARN-TO-SAIL ! Enjoy a weekend on Vancouver's English Bay by earning your first sailing certification and prerequisite for courses to own or bareboat charter a cruising sailboat locally and internationally.

        Vancouver Sailing Club

        Completion provides the prerequisite for crewing in our keelboats, enroling in VSC203 Day Skipper, VSC204 Bareboat Charter Master and/or Racing Crew certification courses.


        None. This is an introductory learn-to-sail course.


        $595 per person (maximum 5), $1075 couples, $2395 private group lessons for 3 to 6- call us for dates.

        1. Sailing Terminology
        2. Weather and Sea Conditions
        3. Electrical Systems
        4. Auxiliary Power
        5. Standing and Running Rigging
        6. Rules of the Road
        7. Slip Departure and Return
        8. Sailing theory and simulator
        9. Communications & Navigation
        10. Anchoring and Mooring
        11. Coping with Emergencies

        16-hours on-the-water Instruction from a VSC Certified Instructor:

        • Sailing terminology review
        • "Safety is First" boat preparation
        • 5 sailing knots for rigging
        • Slip Departure and Return
        • Raising and Lowering the Mainsail and Jib/ Genoa sails
        • Basic Sail Trim
        • Sailing the Points of Sail and Triangular Course
        • Man Overboard (MOB) Recovery
        • Introduction to VHF radio communications
        • Anchoring and Mooring
        • Emergency procedures

        Earning a  VSC - NauticEd Sailing Certification will become one of your prized accomplishments, providing the skills and confidence to maximize your sailing experience
